About WithScotland

WithScotland supports child protection practice, policy and research. We do this by working in collaboration, (with you to make sure you get access to the resources you need), connecting research with practice; exchanging knowledge and ideas and coordinating activities across Child Protection Committees. We can help source different kinds of information for you. Agencies, councils or organisations can also approach us for help with specific child protection cases, and we will help broker their access to relevant knowledge and expertise.

WithScotland also recognises the importance of people protection in Scotland. Our Adult Protection Coordinator supports the Adult Protection Committees and the Adult Protection Policy Forum and is developing our resources and making links between child, adult and public protection. At the heart of WithScotland is the principle of improving outcomes for children in need of care and protection - by working in partnership with you.

Further information

WithScotland springs from the convergence of The Multi-Agency Resource Service (MARS) and the Scottish Child Care and Protection Network (SCCPN). Both were set up in response to the Inspection into the Care and Protection of children in Eilean Siar.  The report recommended the establishment of a multi-agency resource on which all staff in Scotland working with complex child protection issues can draw for advice, expertise, training and research (SWIA 2005).
